Willie Nelson signing 2023 grant checks

Dear John,

This time of year, there’s one table that I’m always grateful to be around. It’s a joyful one, where our community gathers to reflect, connect and ground ourselves in shared purpose – and where laughter, learning and good food are a given. This gathering is the annual Farm Aid grant review, when our staff assembles to read proposals from organizations across the country engaged in work to help farmers thrive, take action to change the system and grow the Good Food Movement.

I’m proud to share that Farm Aid has granted more than $1.3 million this year including $955,500 in annual grants to 97 farm and food organizations. It’s an honor to support our grantees’ incredible work to strengthen farmers and empower communities to stand with them. Farm Aid’s grantmaking connects us to the roots of the movement for family farmers and underscores that we all have a role to play in building a different agricultural system, one that values family farmers, good food, soil and water and strong communities.
