Friend,
I know it's a busy time of year for many of us. However, I feel that I must share what we're hearing from our teams inside Gaza. And with so many of you generously giving during this crucial part of the year, I want you to know how Project HOPE puts your support to work to save lives.
Dr. Maram, pictured above, is a vital member of our team in Gaza. She is leading efforts to provide lifesaving care at a medical clinic that Project HOPE is supporting in Deir al Balah. For over two months, she has been treating patients nonstop. She told us:
“I have left my home in search of a safer place to live but no such thing exists. No one and nowhere is safe... So many children that I care for are the only members of their families left... We have no fuel, electricity, water, or internet to connect with the world. Our grocery store shelves are empty, and even if we find food, there is no cooking gas. We are all doing our best to take care of one another, but we are tired and terrified. There is nowhere to turn.”
Her message paints a horrifying picture. Nearly everyone in Gaza is at risk from infectious diseases, respiratory issues, skin infections, lice and diarrhea. We continue our call for a ceasefire, the protection of civilians and health facilities, the release of all civilian hostages, and respect for international humanitarian law as our teams work to save lives.
