World leaders really don’t get what ‘climate emergency’ means

THE WORLD IS BURNING.

BUT EVEN AT A CLIMATE SUMMIT,

OUR LEADERS ARE JUST FARTING AROUND

Hi John,

COP28 has been a wild ride, and here at XRUK we're super excited about all its many achievements:

  • We just need to ‘transition away’ from fossil fuels. At some point. In the future. Maybe - yeay!
  • There’s been a record 2,456 fossil fuel lobbyists attending COP, outnumbering official indigenous representatives 7 to 1 - GET IN!
  • The £792m loss & damage fund covers 0.2% of what’s needed - woohoo!

On top of that, 2022 data indicates countries spend $19bn a day subsidising fossil fuels PLUS the planet’s on the verge of five catastrophic climate tipping points. 🤯 Could these two weeks have been any better?

World leaders really are farting around. No-one benefits from a planet that can’t support life.

What more can you do to help?

Since 2018, XR has been sounding the alarm. Yet we still find ourselves with an agreement coming out of COP that is the furthest from what science is telling us. Professor Mike Berners-Lee from Lancaster University said The situation is worse. This is the fossil fuel industry’s dream… it looks like progress but it isn’t.

If you're unable to commit to a monthly donation, we'd appreciate whatever you’re able to afford to donate today.

The climate emergency cries out for urgent action by world leaders. But as we’ve seen at COP, our leaders are incapable of acting fast enough, in a way that is fair and just for all. That's why your support is so important today.
