Today marks a solemn but significant day. Today we remember the 11th anniversary of the Sandy Hook tragedy. Eleven years ago, our hearts were shattered by the devastating events at Sandy Hook Elementary School. It was a day that changed us forever, awakening a collective resolve to end the scourge of gun violence.
Since then, the Alliance for Gun Responsibility has stood at the forefront of this critical fight. Born from the ashes of that dark day, we have channeled our grief into action, advocating tirelessly for safer communities and sensible gun laws.
Reflecting on the past decade, it's essential to recognize both the progress made and the challenges that remain. Washington State has emerged as a beacon of hope, leading the charge against gun violence. This year, we've seen historic advancements, including the passage of significant gun safety legislation like the assault weapons ban- a testament to what we can achieve together.
However, the road ahead is still long. The staggering toll of gun violence continues to impact lives daily, often away from the headlines. Our resolve must not waver. We owe it to the memory of Sandy Hook, to those we've lost since, and to future generations.
