					Antisemitic incidents in the US hit an unprecedented record in the two months since Hamas’s terrorist attack on Israel on October 7, up 337% compared to last year. University of Pennsylvania President Liz Magill and Chair of the Board of Trustees, Scott Bok, both resigned their positions amid widespread criticism of their handling of antisemitism on campus. A 13-year-old boy in Ohio was arrested and accused of planning a mass shooting at a synagogue after sharing his plan on the online chat platform Discord.

					Antisemitic Incidents Surge 337% Since Start of Hamas-Israel War: ADL

					“Antisemitic incidents in the U.S. have surged at an unprecedented rate since the Oct. 7 Hamas attack, according to an Anti-Defamation League report released Monday. Such reported incidents of assault, harassment and vandalism increased by 337% since the same time last year, reaching the highest number during any two-month period since ADL began tracking in 1979, per preliminary data. By the numbers: Between Oct. 7 and Dec. 7, ADL recorded a total of 2,031 antisemitic incidents.” Axios: FULL STORY

					University of Pennsylvania President Resigns After Widely-Panned Remarks About Jewish Genocide

					“University of Pennsylvania President Liz Magill resigned on Saturday, four days after her response to a question about antisemitism at a Congressional hearing angered many Jewish students, alumni and donors, and drew rebukes from Congress and the state’s Jewish governor. ‘I write to share that President Liz Magill has voluntarily tendered her resignation as President of the University of Pennsylvania,’ Scott Bok, chair of the university’s board of trustees, said in an email to university alumni. He also said that Magill will remain a tenured faculty member at the university’s law school.” The Forward:

					13-Year-Old Charged After Allegedly Planning a Mass Shooting at an Ohio Synagogue

					“A 13-year-old in Ohio is facing criminal charges after allegedly crafting “a detailed plan” for a mass shooting at a synagogue in September, according to court documents obtained by CNN. The teen, whom authorities have not publicly identified, posted “a detailed plan to complete a mass shooting” at Temple Israel in Canton, according to the court documents. The defendant posted the plans on the social media platform Discord, and when authorities notified public individuals and agencies and the school system, it caused “significant public alarm,” according to the documents.” CNN:

						Bloodcurdling. In the outskirts of Paris on Tuesday, a man entered the office of a kindergarten director who is Jewish, brandished a large knife, and said, “You’re a Jew. You’re a Zionist. 5 of us are going to rape you & cut you up like they did in Gaza.”

						We welcome continued Congressional commitment to fighting antisemitism on campus. ADL tracked a more than 1,100% increase in incidents on campus since Oct 7, compared to last year. Campus presidents must do better.

						One month after @Columbia suspended its SJP & JVP chapters for holding an unauthorized event that included “threatening rhetoric & intimidation," these groups held a protest in which they chanted for violence & genocide against Jews. This is unacceptable.
