Yesterday the global climate talks happening in Dubai wrapped up. And though the COP was overflowing with endless demonstrations of resistance and people power by our team, our allies in the Kick Big Polluters Out coalition, and climate justice activists from around the globe, the ultimate outcome of the talks were incredibly disappointing.

This round of climate talks was flooded by more than 2,400 fossil fuel lobbyists and overseen by a fossil fuel executive. And though the agreement coming out of the talks officially mentions “fossil fuels” for the first time, the finer print is littered with false solutions and dangerous distractions that essentially guarantee the continuation of the fossil fuel era. The United States, UK, EU, Norway, and others call themselves climate ‘champions’, but once again are twisting the outcomes of these talks so they don’t have to wean themselves off their fossil fuel addiction.

Despite these outcomes, we are continuing to push for climate justice and real actions to address the climate crisis. With your support, the Kick Big Polluters Out coalition has made the glaring fact that so many fossil fuel lobbyists are at these talks unavoidable. And thanks to pressure from this campaigning together with our allies and supporters, the U.N.climate body was finally forced to enact a policy so that people attending the climate talks had to disclose who they represent.
