Aloha Friend,
I wanted to share some good news before the holidays about our efforts to protect the environment and the health and safety of our people.
The Red Hill Joint task force has informed me that they have safely removed all the fuel from the storage tanks and have already begun draining the fuel from the pipelines.
This means by December 19 — this coming Tuesday — 99.9% of the 104 million gallons of fuel at Red Hill will be gone, which is six months earlier than projected.
I was happy to hear that this effort has been safely completed, and I wanted to share the news with you.
As soon as the defueling is complete, we will begin the process of closing the facility permanently so that it never again poses a threat to our health or the safety of our water.
Happy holidays!
Josh
