** "Biden, Kerry, and other Democrats don’t care about our unprecedented $34 trillion debt or the massive interest payments. They don’t care about the energy inflation caused by their expensive climate energy policies. They don’t care that we are sending 100s of billions of dollars to China. The don’t care about social justice. They don’t care about your family making ends meet. They care more about climate ideology than people."

(12/12/23) reports: "A coalition of 31 organizations and eight politicians across Oregon are asking Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum to formally investigate NW Natural for continuing to 'misinform the public' concerning the air quality and health risks of cooking with natural gas. In a press conference Tuesday morning, Eugene Mayor Lucy Vinis, along with climate groups Beyond Toxics and Sierra Club, directly criticized NW Natural for claiming that air quality risks with gas and electric appliances are comparable. Vinis also criticized NW Natural for undermining legislation regulating natural gas."

Not great for the environment. Not great for working families. What is the obsession with mandating EVs?

(12/10/23) reports: "Electric vehicles are marketed as having negligible impacts on the planet when compared to standard cars. However, electric vehicles have significant environmental drawbacks. They are proving to have at least as much environmental impact as conventional vehicles due to the demands of power supply, manufacturing processes, materials extraction, and waste disposal. While electric vehicles may not emit carbon dioxide during normal operations, the power sources that charge their batteries commonly do. The majority of electric vehicles are charged using power generated by fossil fuels, according to the Institute for Energy Research, which points to a Cowboy State Daily article describing how powering the 98 charging bays in the world’s largest Tesla charging station 'takes something solar can’t provide — diesel generators.'... The components of electric vehicles also have an environmental cost. 'About 40% of the climate impact from the production of lithium-ion batteries
comes from the mining and processing of the materials needed,' according to the Institute for Energy Research. However, the environmental impact of EV battery components encompasses more than greenhouse gas emissions. Mining and other processes are used to extract materials such as lithium and cobalt from the ground. Lithium is often collected through brine extraction, a process in which 'a large amount of water is pumped into salt flats, bringing saltwater containing minerals to the surface.' This process can contaminate groundwater supplies. Additionally, more than half the world’s lithium is located in 'the Andean Mountain sections of Argentina, Bolivia, and Chile.' and brine extraction could consume 65% of the water in this high desert region."

Few regulatory bodies hate their constituency more than the NRC.

(12/12/23) reports: "The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) granted approval for the construction of a salt-cooled, high-temperature nuclear reactor in Tennessee on Tuesday, according to the Department of Energy (DOE). Kairos Power will operate the Oak Ridge, Tennessee, facility, which is the first non-water-cooled reactor to receive regulatory approval from the NRC in more than five decades, according to the company. While Kairos will still need to apply for an operating license from the NRC, a DOE sub-agency, it expects the facility to begin operations as early as 2026, according to the DOE...The reactor, known as Hermes, is notable because it uses molten salts as a coolant for nuclear energy production rather than water, which traditionally serves that function, according to the World Nuclear Association. The Hermes facility will serve as a demonstration reactor, meaning that the company will use it to prove that it can generate safe and affordable energy in the future with the
technology it uses, according to Kairos. New commercial nuclear power plants are rare in the contemporary history of the U.S., regardless of what materials are used as coolant. Key challenges to affordable nuclear development include regulatory uncertainty and high per-unit construction costs, according to the Institute for Energy Research. The first commercial nuclear reactor built from scratch this century went online in July near Augusta, Georgia, years behind schedule and billions of dollars over budget."
