*Connecticut and Nebraska Rejoin OJJDP?s Title II Formula Grants Program *
On December 14, 2023, OJJDP announced that Connecticut and Nebraska have rejoined its Title II Formula Grants Program [ [link removed] ]. Each state will receive fiscal year 2023 awards of more than $600,000 to prevent delinquency, protect system-involved youth, and improve juvenile justice systems. The awards mark the first time both Connecticut and Nebraska will receive funding under the program since 2018. Formula grants support states? ongoing work to achieve positive outcomes for youth and advance public safety.
OJJDP?s Formula Grants Program is authorized under the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act (JJDPA) of 1974. In fiscal year 2023, OJJDP invested nearly $57 million in the program nationwide. Through this program, states and territories can provide a range of services for youth, including job training, mental health and substance use treatment, community-based prevention and intervention programs, and school programs to prevent truancy. Participating states also benefit from training and technical assistance.
