Every dollar donated from TODAY until December 22 will be DOUBLED, up to our goal of $7,000.

John — I'm Leydis and I run NDWA's Enforcement Program in New York. I'm the one who works day in and day out with nannies, housecleaners, and care workers to make sure they know their rights under the NY laws and to help them assert those rights.

I first became interested in enforcement work because I was unexpectedly dismissed from my nanny job by my employer when I was pregnant.

I was a single mother and had been counting on going back to my job to support my family. I was angry, devastated, and scared when I found out that I did not have any protections or recourse.

My experiences sparked my passion for rectifying injustice and helping other workers know their rights. That's why I'm asking you, John, to make a donation today to help us train more domestic workers so we can continue to raise up domestic worker standards. Give by December 22, and your contribution will be DOUBLED – a generous supporter will match all gifts up to $7,000.

If you have saved your payment information with FastAction, your contribution will go through immediately on clicking a link.

I'm not going to lie - this work can be really hard. It is emotionally draining, especially when you have to tell a worker who has had wages stolen, or worse, that there is nothing that can be done.

That's why we work so hard to train workers to know their rights before they're taken advantage of. But it's not just about sharing information. Know Your Rights information can only be implemented if a worker has the skills to negotiate those rights with their employers.

Earlier this year, I did a training with a group of 80-100 workers, and I loved how workers added more to the training by sharing their personal experiences. It reminds me that as hard as it can be, this work is critically important and has a real impact on their lives.

These trainings don't just empower workers; they create domestic worker leaders who are leading the way to building the caring economy we all deserve. But this work depends on support from advocates like you.

Will you chip in today to help us grow our programs and help empower more domestic workers across the country? The support you give today, no matter the amount, will have a direct impact on the lives of the workers who care for us.
