Friend,

The Biden administration is considering changes to the U.S. asylum system that are tied to ongoing negotiations with Congress around aid to Israel and Ukraine. These proposals would be extremely damaging to immigrant communities.

This potential framework includes appalling proposals to expand fast-tracked deportations nationwide, undermine asylum law, and curtail temporary immigrant protections. I can’t stress this enough: The White House’s willingness to sacrifice vulnerable people is simply unacceptable and deeply wrong.

We are calling on Senate Democrats to reject these extreme anti-immigrant proposals, and instead work toward sensible solutions that live up to our legal and moral commitments to welcome those seeking safety.

In response to these reports, we are urging all our allies and advocates to take action and call on their Senators to strongly urge them to stand up and do the right thing by opposing any deal.

It is critical that we come together to fight for a system that ensures people can reach safety, no matter where they come from or how much money they have.

Team, please send a message to your Senators to reject any deal that would decimate critical asylum protections precisely when they’re most needed >>>

With other abhorrent actions happening at our borders on President Biden’s watch, these sweeping changes would further betray the president’s previously articulated commitment to bring humanity and order to our systems to welcome people seeking safety.

Our commitment to help those facing crises around the world must also extend to those seeking safety at our doorstep. We urge the administration to reject linking the decimation of our legal asylum system with providing aid to Ukraine and Israel.

Please, we’re asking you to take action today. Please take a moment to contact your Senators to urge them to oppose any deal that links asylum to foreign aid.
