When my wife Aly was pregnant with our two boys, we would hold our breath at every doctor’s appointment. Every check-up, we worried that something could go wrong – that Aly might have a complication or that our babies wouldn’t be healthy.

Being a parent is a life-changing experience – one that I’m so grateful for. But one that should not be forced on someone, especially a person facing life-threatening complications.

I believe in a woman’s right to choose. In her right to have freedom over her reproductive health and not worry about state laws or politicians interfering in her private medical decisions.

But Ted Cruz has led the charge in Texas – and our nation – to restrict a woman’s right to abortion. He is literally the author of the nationwide abortion ban.

Just this week, a woman here in Texas was facing life-threatening circumstances because of his anti-abortion policies. This is the America Ted Cruz wants. This is the reality Ted Cruz is creating for millions of women in our state and our country. 

The Republican Party has made it clear: Abortion rights are on the ballot in 2024. But Texans have the power to elect a leader who will fight to restore and protect reproductive rights in our state, not one who celebrates them being taken away.

So here's my promise to you: I promise that when I’m in the Senate, I'll stand up for abortion rights here in Texas and across the country. And I hope, wherever you are, that you will, too.
