John,
As a nation, we entered the Paris Climate Agreement with nearly 200 other countries committing to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. However, in 2017, President Trump announced he would pull the United States from the Agreement — a huge mistake that will leave us even more vulnerable to the climate crisis.
With the help of supporters and activists like you, we are fighting back with everything we’ve got. We are working on the ground to protect and expand forests, wetlands, and other natural ecosystems that draw carbon from the atmosphere to store in our landscapes.
This work could not be more urgent — today, the International Panel on Climate Change issued a report confirming that land must play a critical role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
We are also working in Washington, D.C. to pass legislation — the International Climate Accountability Act — that would bypass President Trump’s decision, and mandate that the United States stay in the Paris Climate Agreement. We need the Senate to pass this legislation now, so we can meet the emission reduction targets necessary to keep global heating below two degrees Celsius. Sign now and urge your Senators to cosponsor the International Climate Accountability Act!
Ever since Paris targets were set in 2015, we’ve witnessed the climate crisis worsen in real time. Hurricanes like Florence and Michael were on the severe end of what was predicted just a few years ago. We need to fight climate change in full-force — starting with passage of this bill. Sign our petition now and urge your Senators to cosponsor the Act so we can limit climate disaster today.
Thank you,
Jordan Schreiber
