Nine people exonerated. 

Eleven laws passed, in partnership with our Innocence Network colleagues, to create a more just criminal legal system. 

A second virtual Just Data conference that attracted experts from around the world and promises to drive and promote practical research to advance the innocence movement. 

And that’s just some of what we achieved in 2023 despite a hugely challenging legal landscape. 

This is significant progress, and none of it would be possible without this community — so thank you. But we all know that the work is far from over. As we close out the year, you can help us make an even bigger impact in 2024 by making a donation before the end-of-year deadline.

I begin my fourth year as the Innocence Project’s Executive Director motivated by James Baldwin’s powerful reminder: “The challenge is in the moment, the time is always now.” There’s still so much left to do to ensure that our legal system is fair, compassionate, and equitable for everyone.

In the coming year, I look forward to partnering with you as we fiercely advocate for access to the courts for innocent people, fair compensation for exonerated people, reliable and accurate science in courtrooms, and an end to racial bias in the administration of criminal justice.
