For 30 years, the Children's Defense Fund (CDF) Freedom
Schools® program has offered our scholars a supportive,
respectful, and empowering environment for both learning and growth. A
nourishing meal, chances to move their bodies, books that speak to
their heritage and lived experiences, and much more give each young
person the tools to thrive.
Our CDF Freedom Schools staff is committed to every scholar's
physical, spiritual, emotional, and intellectual well-being. "I
get to be that person that I didn't have in school," says
Elia, one of our Servant Leader Interns.
Five-year-old Katelynn isn't shy about her CDF Freedom Schools
experience. "My favorite part is everything," she says.

the year prior-amazing growth! But we don't yet have CDF
Freedom Schools in all 50 states. With the rise in banning books and
