When Donald Trump took office, we knew that a moment would come when a major emergency happened, and he would have to lead the nation during a time of crisis. That crisis has arrived, and his response has been everything we feared and worse.

Dear MoveOn member,

When Donald Trump took office, we knew that a moment would come when a major emergency happened, and he would have to lead the nation during a time of crisis. That crisis has arrived, and his response has been everything we feared and worse.

Trump's muddled, practically incoherent response to the coronavirus outbreak is shameful and terrifying. He and his administration have put out contradictory guidance and information, and minimized the crisis at hand, sowing even further distrust in our government and confusion among the public.1 Meanwhile, his attempts to pass tax relief to corporate America clearly shows that his loyalties don't lie with the people, but with the richest 1%.

Trump's rambling Oval Office speech this week didn't even address the crisis ballooning because of the lack of test kits, and instead used racist, dog-whistle politics to shift the blame to other countries and attempt to create divisions among us.

Trump has put the health and lives of millions of Americans at risk.

Our response is clear: We must hold Donald Trump accountable and defeat him at the polls in November. MoveOn is running the largest election program in our 22-year history to help make it possible. Will you rush a contribution of $3 right now to help defeat Trump in November?

As health experts have repeated, there are simple and effective ways for all of us to protect ourselves and slow the spread of the virus: thoroughly washing our hands, avoiding touching our faces, limiting travel if possible, and avoiding large group gatherings. Given the Trump administration's slow and ineffective reaction to the crisis, it's likely that the need for social distancing and self-quarantining will continue for many weeks, which means that election campaigns and election planning will need to shift to accommodate these restrictions.

If rallies, in-person volunteering, and canvassing are no longer recommended, we'll need to rely on a digital grassroots movement to connect with voters in the key battleground states.

Luckily, MoveOn is uniquely positioned to lead in this moment.

MoveOn has been building its digital organizing capabilities for two decades, and we now have a vast audience of millions of activists like you, John, along with a suite of digital tools that will allow volunteers to call and text millions of voters, share information, and build momentum before Election Day.

Will you chip in $3 to power MoveOn's campaign and ensure that Donald Trump, Mitch McConnell, and their fellow Republicans all lose their jobs on November 3?

Make no mistake: Trump's failure in this moment means lives will be lost.

Public health officials are working as hard as they can, and we must all do our part to help stop the spread of this virus.

If Trump had acted swiftly, decisively, and in collaboration with world leaders, we could well have gotten ahead of the virus. And certainly we'd be able to test everyone who needs it, rather than just 2,000 people nationwide, compared to more than 260,000 tested in South Korea.2

But, instead, Trump and his administration are turning a blind eye and making Americans suffer as a result.

This has to stop. We cannot allow Trump, McConnell, and the rest of their Senate enablers to remain in power, because we now know exactly how they will react in an emergency, and it is an unmitigated disaster.

Please, join us in the fight to remove each and every one of them from office this November. Chip in $3 now.

Thanks for all you do.
