Dear John:
In a time of historic upheaval and massive challenges, I’m especially glad to work alongside leaders like Yuh-Line Niou.
Assemblywoman Yuh-Line Niou has been a powerful voice in the legislature for working people in the 65th District (Lower Manhattan) and across the city.
From strengthening protections for tenants and increasing funding for NYCHA to banning LGBTQ discrimination, Yuh-Line is one of our state’s fiercest progressive fighters -- and I’m proud to support her.
Yuh-Line’s parents arrived in the United States from Taiwan with six suitcases, their baby daughter, and very little money.
As an anti-poverty advocate, Chief of Staff to Assemblymember Ron Kim, and now a legislator, Yuh-Line has never forgotten where she came from, focusing on language access and other key policies to make sure no one falls through the cracks.
Now, as Trump and other Republicans use Coronavirus to stoke fears instead of bringing us together, Yuh-Line has used her platform to push back ferociously against rising anti-Asian xenophobia.
Big money is pouring into this race. Yuh-line’s corporate-backed opponent will still get big money donations despite the current crisis -- it’s easy to keep calling wealthy people and asking for giant checks.
But Yuh-Line can’t host the in-person house parties that fuel grassroots campaigns. So if we want to keep her powerful voice in Albany, we have to act fast.
Anything you can give is greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for your support,
-- Brad
P.S. To combat anti-Asian bigotry during the coronacrisis, Yuh-line has been tweeting out wonderful restaurant recommendations with the hashtag #NiouYorkEats. As a lover of food AND puns, I can’t help but support her! But seriously, even $5 or $10 will help keep us both fighting for working people in NYC and statewide -- please chip in what you can now →
