Dear Supporter,

In the days since the passing of our founder Norman Lear, we have been
touched by numerous kind and generous notes of remembrance from across the
People For community. So many of these tributes offer heartfelt
reflections on the ways in which Norman’s life has in some way impacted
the lives of our supporters and, to a much larger extent, the nation.

At People For we’ve been so grateful to have Norman’s vision and values
guiding our efforts for over 40 years. And now, as we continue mourning
his loss and adjust to the reality of a future without him, keeping his
legacy alive through our ongoing work to expose and counter the efforts of
an increasingly hostile far-right movement will be crucial.

Norman often said that there wasn’t a day that went by when he didn’t pick
up his morning newspaper and thank God that People For was there. Like us,
Norman recognized the power of People For supporters in opposing the
forces that sought to divide us and weaken our rights. As we look to 2024,
those same far-right forces are growing in strength as they seek to take
back the White House, take control of Congress, and expand their attempts
to pass an extreme and deeply unpopular agenda.

Norman also recognized that safeguarding our rights from these attacks
would demand constant vigilance and care to prevent the erosion of
progress. He knew these fights would continue long into the future and
would require ongoing support and advocacy from progressives like
you.

This reality is why it was Norman’s wish that upon his passing,
contributions in his honor be made to People For as a way to continue
pursuing his vision for our nation. These contributions will help us
preserve and build on the progress we’ve made in countering the Far
Right’s attempts to undermine our rights and freedoms.

[ [link removed] ]In honoring his request, we’re proud to have launched the Norman Lear
Legacy Fund which will help People For to carry on the work to which
Norman was so devoted. If you haven’t already, please send a contribution
in Norman’s honor as soon as you can. >>

or see any movie of their choice, create or appreciate even the most
challenging art. People who believe the government has no business
telling us who or how to love. Members and supporters who truly believe

sons and daughters to ensure that equal protection of the law covers all
Americans no matter their race, religion, or sexual orientation."
