Hello John,
It’s been quite a year, and we’re not done yet! With supporters like you, we are building collective power to create a more inclusive democracy. We’ve already made great strides in 2023.
We advocated for plans not bans to support unhoused community members, an increasing number of whom are elders. We mobilized thousands of voters, especially young voters, to participate in the special election for County Supervisor. We assisted diverse immigrants with citizenship applications, DACA renewals, and other legal services to protect their families.
Most excitingly, we launched the Start With Dignity campaign to bring human rights home, and specifically to change the use of force standard for law enforcement in the US to align with international law. For the first time ever, we took our cause to the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland, where affected community members spoke directly to the UN Human Rights Committee about the discrimination and abuse they had suffered, prompting the Committee to recommend that the US change its policies in order to protect lives.
In all of this work, Alliance San Diego continues to bring the community along in a journey that elevates our collective humanity, be it through the annual All Peoples Celebration or Define Our Dignity events. There is so much more we can accomplish together, and your support is vital to our movement for change.
