Hey, team!

In two days, we face our first fundraising deadline since Mike won the Mississippi primary election. Speaking of which, we have some insights from the primary that show with enough momentum, there is a path to victory in this race for U.S. Senate:

First of all, Mike overwhelmingly won the Democratic primary with 93% of the vote, proving he’s the most experienced and trusted leader to take on Cindy Hyde-Smith.

In a clear sign of enthusiasm, turnout in the 2020 Democratic primary increased across the entire state. In fact, Mike Espy received more raw votes than the total 2016 turnout! Not only that, but turnout increased significantly in key areas Mike will need in order to win in November, including Madison and DeSoto counties, where there was a 31% and 32% increase in turnout, respectively.

According to exit polls, the Democratic primary was 28% white and 72% non-white, a 4% increase in white Democratic primary voters from 2016. This is a clear sign that Mike and Joe Biden are able to bring out a much broader coalition than past Democratic candidates.

And while Mike received more raw votes than Presidential primary winner Joe Biden, there was only a 2% drop-off between the total presidential vote and total senate vote. On the Republican ballot, there was a 5% down ballot drop-off between the Republican Presidential ballot and Senate ballot. Cindy Hyde-Smith has made it clear she is only interested in hugging President Trump in this race, and any drop-off between the President's vote and hers will present problems for her in November.

These aren’t just a bunch of numbers, team: they’re key signs that if we can keep up grassroots support for Mike across Mississippi over the next seven months, we can WIN.

With our first post-primary fundraising deadline coming up this Monday at midnight, will you chip in $10 (or whatever you can) to keep fueling Mike’s campaign for Senate?
