Dear Young Center supporter,
I am reaching out with an urgent call to action. The right to asylum, a lifeline for many vulnerable children and families, is under threat.
Currently, the White House and U.S. Senate are negotiating a spending package that reportedly includes trading crucial components of our long-standing refugee protection system for foreign aid. This proposal, if passed, would severely restrict asylum, expand expedited deportations, detain families with children in jails, and potentially revive a Title 42 style policy, broadly restricting access to the border. Such measures would have devastating consequences on people in dire need of protection and the immigrant communities across our country.

In the past, these types of asylum restrictions have led to thousands, including children and families, facing violent attacks like kidnapping, torture, sexual abuse, and extortion in Mexico.
The Biden Administration and Congress must support humane, child, and family-centered solutions. The policies under consideration were opposed and overturned during the Trump administration for being harmful and ineffective. Congress must not compromise our nation’s values for funding priorities. Families and children seek asylum as a matter of life and death, and their right to safety must be affirmed.
We urge you to email your U.S. Senators immediately. Demand that they protect asylum and reject these harmful proposals in the ongoing supplemental funding negotiations. Your voice can make a difference in upholding our nation's values and the safety of those seeking refuge.

Thank you for standing with us in this critical fight.
Sincerely,
