Hi John,
Yesterday, I spoke on the floor of the House of Representatives about right-wing attacks on reproductive health care in our country. Earlier this week, the Texas Supreme Court ruled that a 31-year-old mother of two was not entitled to an abortion deemed by her physician as medically necessary.
This story is heartbreaking, John. The mother, Kate Cox, ultimately chose to travel to another state to receive her life-saving care, but many others do not have this option.
Government officials – including judges and even presidents – have no business determining if and when people can make personal decisions regarding their reproductive care. That’s why, over a year after the U.S. Supreme Court struck down Roe v. Wade, I am still fighting in Congress to codify abortion rights.
The GOP is denying people life-saving care, and it’s despicable. I promise you that, as long as I remain in Congress, I will continue to fight for equitable, accessible reproductive care for everyone.
Here are the stakes in 2024: If we continue to elect extremists to Congress, and if we lose the White House, Republicans will pass a nationwide abortion ban. We can’t let that happen. If you’re with me, I hope you’ll consider supporting my re-election campaign with a donation. Here’s a secure link:
