Al Sharpton’s show on MSNBC where we discussed a range of topics including reproductive rights, gun violence prevention, and the new Georgia Congressional maps that were recently signed by Gov. Before I got involved in activism and politics, I worked as a flight attendant for many years. One day, I noticed Rev. Sharpton was a passenger on the flight I was working.

This was shortly after my son Jordan had been shot and killed. I knew I couldn’t miss this opportunity to share my story with one of the most influential figures in the country sitting right in front of me.

On that flight, I implored Rev. Sharpton to do something with Jordan’s story. I’m forever grateful to him for listening to me that day and using his platform to call for an end to gun violence. I learned the lesson that change will only come from folks like me raising our voices.
