John,
My name is Justin, and I’m a Higher Education Program participant here at Immigrants Rising. When I first moved to California, I was only a year away from finishing my degree as a computer engineering major. I thought I could pick up where I left off, but I found out that my transcript was not transferable. I had no choice but to start over from scratch.
Though I am still not eligible for in-state tuition here, my school offers an Adult Special Admit Program (ASAP) that makes my education free while I’m earning the high school and college credits I need to get back on the path to graduation.
Check out this video celebrating Immigrants Rising’s impact on higher education.

My experience navigating higher education as an undocumented student has made me care deeply about providing solutions and support to my fellow undocumented students. Getting involved with Immigrants Rising lit up a torch in me, and now I am determined to give back to help make other people’s dreams come true.
Invest in immigrant students like Justin by donating to Immigrants Rising today!
Sincerely,
Justin Robin L. Chan
