SIGN HERE: Tell Congress to Raise the Wage!
John -
Right now in the United States, we have working people holding down two or three jobs just to keep a roof over their heads and provide for their families – they are working harder than ever before, but they have less to show for it.
Since 2009, the federal minimum wage has been stuck at $7.25 - the longest stretch in history. The Raise the Wage Act would bring the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour by 2025, give 34 million Americans a raise, and lift 1.3 million Americans out of poverty.
It's this kind of common-sense legislation, which puts more money in the pockets of hard-working Americans, that is necessary to push the 21st-century economy forward.
But Mitch McConnell and Senate Republicans are refusing to even consider this bill - doing the bidding of the wealthy donor class instead of everyday, working Americans.
Sign here: Urge the Senate to take up the Raise the Wage Act for a vote and give 34 million Americans a raise!
I recently shared the The Wall Street Journal’s article titled “Families go Deep in Debt to Stay in the Middle Class” which outlines how stagnant wages, the student debt crisis, and rising costs for living expenses are pushing families closer to the brink. This issue cannot continue to be used as a political football, at the expense of working families.
