Let me be frank John: We have to prepare for the likelihood that Donald Trump will be the nominee in 2024.

As the Ranking Member on the Subcommittee on the Constitution, I've seen the dangerous impact Trump and his allies — like my fellow committee member, Speaker Mike Johnson — have had on our rights and freedoms behind closed doors. And how brazenly they work to subvert our democracy.

I’ve spent my entire career fighting to defend our rights, and I can tell you honestly this is a uniquely dangerous moment for American life. We are facing unprecedented danger to our democracy and future in 2024, and Democrats must approach this upcoming election season with commitment to a united front.

We have a Federal Election Commission (FEC) fundraising deadline at the end of the month – the final one of 2023 – and our publicly reported numbers will be used by GOP strategists to determine how and where they should focus their energy in the fight for the House next year.

A strong report will show them exactly what they’re facing here in PA-05.

I will not stand for Donald Trump taking his personal revenge on our democracy by shredding our Constitution, I can promise you that, John. He and his MAGA allies in the House will have to get through Philly and PA-05 first.
