Additional ESST FAQs, translated poster available

The Department of Labor and Industry (DLI) has posted 25 additional FAQs related to the earned sick and safe time (ESST) law to help employers determine if their sick and safe leave policies meet the requirements of the law, which goes into effect Jan. 1.

Employers have various obligations under the ESST law, including providing a notice to employees of their rights under the law by Jan. 1 or at the start of employment, whichever is later. The notice must be in English or the employee's primary language. It is available in English and translated into 17 additional languages.?

DLI has also created an ESST workplace poster, which is available in English and 17 additional languages.

MNOSHA fatality, serious-injury investigation summaries online

Each month, Minnesota OSHA (MNOSHA) Compliance publishes current, updated summaries of its fatality investigations and serious-injury investigations.

For the federal-fiscal-year that began Oct. 1, 2023, MNOSHA has investigated three fatalities through Dec. 10.

The information provided about each investigation is:? the inspection number, date of incident and worksite city; the type of business and number of employees; a description of the event; and the outcome of the MNOSHA Compliance investigation.
