John,
I’m horrified reading the news out of Texas this week. A mother of two children, pregnant with a fetus diagnosed with a fatal condition by her doctor, has been prohibited from getting a medically required abortion by the Texas Supreme Court.
She applied for an exception to Texas’ abortion ban in order to save her life and future fertility. After a lower court granted her request, the Texas Supreme Court suddenly overturned the ruling – leaving her no choice but to flee the state to receive the care she needed.
This story is sickening.
No woman should be forced to fight in court for the right to their own body, and it's shocking that extreme Republicans, like my opponent Mike Garcia who cosponsored the Republicans’ national abortion ban bill, want this to be a reality for all American women.
I am worried for the future of reproductive rights in this country. My daughter should not have less rights than my wife did at her age, but that’s what’s at stake if extremists like Garcia get their way and pass a nationwide abortion ban.
We must codify Roe v. Wade into law to reinstate abortion rights nationwide and women’s bodily autonomy. The government has no place in decisions that should be between women and their doctors. If you’re with me, please sign our petition:
Restoring
Roe v. Wade will be a top priority of mine in Congress, and I’m committed to giving CA-27 a pro-choice voice.
Thank you,
George
