Attention Produce Farms: Grant Money Is Available

Applications are due December 20.

The Maine Produce Safety Improvement Grant is a Specialty Crop Block Program Grant that can award 15 farms up to $10,000 for the following on-farm food safety improvements:

  • Plastic Harvest Totes
  • Stainless Steel Handwashing Sinks
  • Small Greens Bubblers
  • Salad Spinners
  • Stainless Steel Tables and Carts

The funds will be dispersed through the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association. Funds are NOT limited to certified organic farms. Funds are NOT limited to farms subject to the FSMA Produce Safety Rule.

Recipients will be required to submit Standard Operating Procedures (SOP?s) for the equipment obtained through grant funds by March 1. Participants will be required to attend a virtual Produce Safety Alliance Grower Training with Robson Machado from University of Maine Cooperative Extension from 5-7pm on March 4, 11, 18, and 25.
