Residents in Gaza are facing an unprecedented crisis. Just look at the impact on Gaza’s health care system, driving it to the brink of total collapse:
“On the first day of the bombardment I gave birth to my daughter,” Ola, a new mother, told us.
“Shortly after delivery, I was asked to leave the hospital. I didn’t know where to go as I was unable to return to our home. Physically and mentally exhausted, I look at my newborn daughter and feel incapable of holding or comforting her. I struggle to provide for myself and to feed my daughter. I keep wishing for a different fate.”
More than 13,000 women are expecting deliveries in the next month, many of whom will suffer the same fate as Ola.
With the health care system on the brink of collapse, your humanitarian gifts are making an ever greater impact in Gaza and the West Bank.
- UNFPA has distributed Reproductive Health Kits to seven hospitals across Gaza containing individual clean delivery kits, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and equipment for emergency obstetric care
- We’re distributing kits to 50 midwives that include supplies for them to continue their life saving work
- Your gifts have delivered Dignity Kits, Direct Aid, and more life saving resources to ensure women and girls have the care they need
The harsh truth is, the humanitarian aid reaching Gaza is still only a fraction of what’s needed. But with generous donors matching all year-end gifts up to $235,000, now’s your chance to double your impact.
Will you make an emergency humanitarian gift today to support women and girls surviving this crisis and crises around the world? Your gifts are making a difference in the darkest of times.
UNFPA deeply regrets the end of the humanitarian pause in Gaza. We condemn the violence in Israel, Gaza, and the West Bank, including all sexual violence against women, and echo the UN Secretary-General’s call for a sustained humanitarian ceasefire and for the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages by Hamas.
Thank you for being there for every woman and girl, no matter what.
