John,

I’m holding two feelings in my heart, as 2023 comes to a close and 2024 begins.

On one hand, as I look back, I’m reminded that Ground Game’s vision, since our launch in 2021, has been to prepare for this 2024 election cycle. We’ve been testing our theory that ballot measure campaigns can inspire voter turnout — and now we have proven results, including enhancing Black voter turnout in Bell County and inspiring college-aged voters in college towns like San Marcos and Denton.

We’ve built an organizing machine that is ready for 2024. We are preparing ballot measure campaigns in places like Dallas, Central Texas, and the Rio Grande Valley, and these can play a major role in adding votes across the state. You can support these campaigns by donating $25 or more today. [[link removed]]

At the same time, as I look forward, I’m very aware of the threats we face. Threats to democracy, threats to our immigrant community, threats to bodily autonomy, threats to LGBTQIA youth. Donald Trump is running for President promising to be a dictator on his first day in office. And Texas women can’t even get life-saving surgery to terminate a failed pregnancy.

The stakes could not be higher. Yet in this context, I could not feel stronger about the work of Ground Game Texas, and how we’re building leverage for political change. Our city campaigns will connect popular issues like marijuana reform and raising the minimum wage to Democratic candidates up and down the ticket. We’ll be messaging and organizing to ensure that people know their vote matters.

If you have any questions or ideas related to our work, please send me your thoughts. And if you can invest in our programs for 2024, we’ll ensure every dollar goes to getting more Texans to the polls. [[link removed]]
