The Murderess, an original true crime opera, is based on the character of "Jolly Jane" Toppan, a real-life nursed turned serial killer in late 19th century Boston.

First premiered in Kansas City earlier this year, THE MURDERESS is the first opera by Lawrence-based composer Allison McIntosh and librettist Trip Venturella. This opera has more than one twist -- all is NOT as it appears at first glance!
