Message from Ted

Dear VCC Community,

I’ve been struggling trying to make sense of the state of the human
condition today and how good people were captured by the COVID narrative to
the degree that they were complicit in the closure of businesses, faith
communities, schools, the ending of livelihoods, the condemning of people
to death by withholding treatments, and the violation of fundamental rights
and freedoms.

To that end I’m reading two books that are relevant – Unvaccinated –
How Canada Turned to Hatred and Division by Rejean Venne, and Columbus and
Other Cannibals – The Wetiko Disease of Exploitation, Imperialism, and
Terrorism by Jack D. Forbes. In the forward to Columbus and Other Cannibals
Derrick Jensen writes: _“Why is the dominant culture so excruciatingly,
relentlessly, insanely, genocidally, ecocidally, suicidally
destructive?”_ And this was before the COVID debacle.

Venne writes: _“What transpired over the last year was not a new
phenomenon affecting Western society. Many great nations have succumbed to
incredible hatred based on an ideology grounded in fear. Everyone likes to
look back at unjust moments and assume they would have been one of the good
guys.”_ But the reality is most participated in hatred and division. He
adds – _“We need to truly reflect on what went wrong . . . because we
will be faced with more_ _catastrophes or emergencies, which will invoke
fear and test our desires to succumb to blame and hatred.”_

If we are strong enough and courageous enough, we have an opportunity to
better understand the human potential for evil and learn how to resist its
force. But to do so we need to honesty acknowledge that we’ve entered a
period of darkness that has the potential to destroy human civilization if
we don’t learn from our mistakes. And, we need to recognize and learn
from those who, in the face of abuse and adversity, stayed loving, honest
and graceful. These role models include Drs. Hoffe, Trozzi, Phillips,
Malthouse, Sean Taylor, Shawn Buckley and others, and of course, the
truckers in the Freedom Convoy. They refused to succumb to anger and hate,
and stayed in the light.

The only way forward is to stay loving, light and have the courage to tell
the truth.

Vera Sharav

Vera Sharav joins us to discuss her most recent accomplishment, the release
of a five-part docuseries, Never Again is Now Global, which she directed.
It was produced by the organization she leads, the Alliance for Human
Research Protection (AHRP, www.ahrp.org [5]). 

Being a child survivor of the holocaust, Vera recognized the similarities
between government responses to covid and the nazi regime she experienced.
In 2020, she courageously spoke out, raising the alarm on what she saw
happening across the globe. Through her tireless efforts, she reminds us
all to resist the fear and propaganda that our government uses to
manipulate us and to trust our intuition.

Tool #2 - Use Your
Imagination Creatively 

There is an expression that says, _“All things are created twice - first
in someone’s mind, then in physical form”_. Our imagination is the
mechanism that enables us to create. Creative people share one thing in
common. They see their creation before they begin. If you ask, most artists
will describe how they see the completed art before they begin. A painter
sees the completed painting on the blank canvas; a sculptor sees her
finished carving in the untouched block of wood; a musician knows what the
music will sound like before the score is written.

Stories about golfers regularly describe how they see the shot before they
hit the ball. Olympic athletes are taught to visualize their dive, run,
performance, or routine over and over in their mind. They do this because
imagining the outcome they desire contributes to their success.

Many medical practitioners also recognize the power of the imagination. Dr.
Carl Simonton, a renowned cancer oncologist, used the power of the
imagination to heal his patients. His research confirmed patients who
regularly practiced positive imagining as part of their treatment had
significantly better rates of recovery than patients who didn’t. Dr.
Bernie Segal, another oncologist and author of LOVE, MEDICINE, AND MIRACLES
discovered exactly the same phenomenon when he researched patients who
outlived their terminal diagnosis, Segal discovered their positive
imagination is what made these patients exceptional.

In 1952 Yale University conducted a study in its business school. The
graduating class was asked, _“Who has a written goal plan for his or her
life?”_ Only three percent responded affirmatively. Twenty years later
the same group was re-interviewed. The three percent who had written out
their goals were profoundly more successful than the remaining ninety-seven
percent who didn’t. Their study confirmed that visioning and goal setting
contribute to success.
