Hi Friend,
We believe community organizing means building powerful and resilient communities where we take care of one another and meet the community’s needs.
We put this belief into action in our community garden in the heart of Hempstead, New York – one of the lowest income communities in Long Island. Each year, our community garden helps feed 200 food-insecure families and provides hands-on instruction to K-12 youth on growing food, nutrition, and environmental awareness.
Now we have the opportunity to grow even more in 2024. By raising $2,000, we can qualify for SeedMoney bonus grants to boost our garden programming and strengthen our community outreach efforts.
Our garden has grown more abundant and community-driven over the last 8 years through critical partnerships with city agencies and local organizations. This year, the garden doubled in size to 4,800 sq. feet because of our partnerships and supporters like you.
With your support, we’re able to:
- Purchase necessary supplies for the garden including seeds, soil, composting materials, tools, and other gardening supplies.
- Host local events and educational programs for youth and other community members.
- Provide low-income families, homebound seniors, and local food pantries with fresh fruits and vegetables.
- Build our volunteer base and strengthen community ties through local partnerships, including with the Village of Hempstead youth department and the local senior center.
When you donate to support our garden today, you’re doubling your impact by making it possible for us to receive critical grant funding so we can keep nourishing the local community.
Can you make a contribution of $10 or any amount you can today to help us turn seeds of change into forests of growth?
Thank you for your support,
Will Bailey
