Skagit County Commissioners Monitoring Olympic Pipeline Gasoline Spill

The Skagit Board of County Commissioners is monitoring the ongoing response to the bp America Olympic pipeline gasoline spill on State Route 534 in Conway. Skagit County Department of Emergency Management staff are on site with support from Skagit County Public Works and Public Health staff. We understand the spill has had a large impact on the lives of neighbors and our local schools and businesses, and we appreciate the community?s patience as agencies work to respond to the spill.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Washington State Department of Ecology are leading the response efforts with bp America, and coordinating with Skagit County Department of Emergency Management, Swinomish Indian Tribal Community, and Lummi Nation.
The safety and protection of the community is our top priority during the emergency response efforts. We appreciate the responding agencies? work to quickly contain the spill and begin the remediation efforts to ensure the continued safety of affected properties. We ask the public for patience as the recovery work continues to impact travel on State Route 534.
We will continue to coordinate with the responding agencies to distribute relevant information about the response efforts.
