John, the news coming out of Texas is horrifying.

A young mother with two children, Kate Cox, is pregnant with a fetus who has received a fatal diagnosis. Ms. Cox, with supporting documentation from her doctor, applied for an exception to Texas’ abortion ban to protect her own life and her future fertility.

A lower Texas court granted Ms. Cox’s request on Thursday, but the very next day, the Texas Supreme Court paused the order and eventually overturned the ruling – leaving Cox no choice but to flee the state to have an abortion.

This is simply abhorrent. No woman in our country should be forced to battle for their right to their own body publicly in the court system, nor should they be denied that right and forced to seek care elsewhere.

It’s time to codify Roe v. Wade into law and make abortion safe and legal nationwide – full stop. If you are with me and if you agree that reproductive rights must be safeguarded, please sign our petition now:
