John, the truth
is out and I wanted to make sure you're in the know. Over the past few
weeks, leaders (like Vice President Harris) have been discussing climate
action at the United Nations COP28 climate summit. But a shocking new ONE
report has revealed that rich countries are spending a lot less than they
claim to support those facing the worst effects of climate change.*

stand by and let this happen. You can read the petition text

Dear President Biden,

We demand that you deliver on your climate promises to those most at risk
from climate change. We call on you to be fully transparent, to provide
more timely data, and to support proper reporting standards. We urge you
to agree on more ambitious funding goals that meet the needs of
climate-vulnerable countries.

My colleagues spent hundreds of hours digging through and cleaning up the
data. This is what they found.

Nearly two-thirds of the climate funding promised either hasn’t been
delivered or didn’t have much to do with climate in the first place. Funds
allegedly for climate are being spent on anything from hotels and
chocolate stores to coal-fired power plants.

Even worse, many countries are spending more to pay back debt to rich
countries than they receive in climate funds.

Every day, those that did the least to cause climate change are fighting
to protect their lives and livelihoods from the climate crisis. Over 20
million people are facing extreme hunger in East Africa because of a
historic drought made 100 times more likely because of climate change.

We finally have the proof we need to hold rich countries accountable for
this huge injustice, and we need to act
now. [ [link removed] ]John,
will you add your name to hold them
accountable, and protect our planet before it’s too late?

Together we can put the pressure on so we can’t be ignored.

Kelli Meyer, ONE
