John – Last week The Grio published a takedown of the Congressional districts passed by the Republican state legislature. They break down exactly how the GOP has targeted me – a Black Congresswoman – by removing Black voters and voters of color from the district I represent in a direct attempt to take my seat away.

Sadly, it’s just another incident in a long history of Republicans doing everything in their power to silence our voices.

I’m doing everything I can to prepare myself before the 12/20 court hearing where a federal judge will hear arguments on these maps. My team has set a $25k fundraising goal in the next 8 days – will you donate ASAP to help me fight back against this Republican gerrymandering? [[link removed]]

The article quotes LaTosha Brown, co-founder of Black Voters Matter, as saying:

“[McBath] came into office being a woman who had lost her child and was demanding gun control. That’s literally how she was elected to office for that district… When you strip Black voters from somebody who has been as strong of a fighter for Black rights not only with voting rights but gun violence and maternal health, I think that it says that Black votes don’t matter … They’re making it a whole lot harder for [McBath] to keep her seat. That’s what this is.”

The Georgia GOP is once again sending a clear message that they have no issue resorting to gerrymandering to suppress the voices of GA voters.
