NORTHVILLIANS,

It was an outstanding weekend with great record-setting weather in Northville, perfect for a Santa Fun Run which started across from Good Time Party Store and wound its way down Cass Benton Park on Hines Drive. Additionally, shoppers enjoyed the downtown festivities Saturday afternoon with Carolers singing holiday tunes, a Christmas Bagpiper and horse-drawn buggy rides free for all Northvillians. Of course, SANTA was in his Northville Town Square North Pole headquarters for our youth to whisper their top Christmas wishes.

And the holiday fun continued … many attended the Tipping Point Theater’s “A Very Northville Christmas,” running until Christmas. It was also my privilege to welcome all who attended the sold-out performance of the Michigan Philharmonic and the Northville Chorale at the Marquis Theater Friday night.

With the holiday spirit truly in the air, we are now winding down the fall activities of Northville High School and gearing up for winter events. This week I will look at some of the recent school accomplishments of our youth.

But first, let's see what's going on during this holiday season..

  • 5 Conference Trophies
  • 3 District Victories
  • 5 Regional Winners

  • 1 Runner-up State TEAM

2023 State Championships at Northville High School:

  • BOYS’ CROSS-COUNTRY
Northville Boys’ Cross-Country – The Mustangs embraced the challenge at the State Meet and for the second straight year, etched their names in the State’s record book by winning the Division 1 Title. The triumph was the THIRD Boys’ team state title in any sport since the Swimming and Diving team took the crown in 1972.

The Northville Mustangs Boys’ Golf Team also placed FIRST in the State (this past spring).

Northville Rowing secured first place at the State Championships in 2023…they placed first in the combined points, 1st in Men’s and 2nd in Women’s.

Mustang Football Team – Only lost against one Team, Belleville, who continued on to the State Championship game. Congrats to this group of student athletes.

Northville Athletic Hall of Fame – I would like to thank the coaches, high school athletic staff, and the Hall of Fame directors for establishing the NHS Athletic Hall of Fame. Its purpose:

To recognize and honor Student Athletes that have made a positive impact on the local community, earned success on and off the field and served as role models for today’s student athletes.

We in the community thank each of them for their dedication in pursuit of excellence and as ambassadors of good will.

Finally, I congratulate All High Schoolers that represented not only themselves but their families, their school and our town in School activities ranging from STEM events to Music competitions, to debate, Robotics, Quiz Bowls, and other events. Northville is fortunate to have one of the top school districts in the State under the leadership of Superintendent Dr. RJ Webber along with having the greatest students, parents, teachers, coaches, counselors, and spectators. I thank all that assisted our youth in achieving their goals in the many school endeavors this past fall.

As we ready for the Winter activities, slow down and enjoy the season and take advantage of the Holiday events around town.

Keep that Northville Faith!
