If you drive a gas-powered vehicle, the Biden Administration is coming for your car keys.

Back in April, President Biden’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) proposed a rule to set emission standards so high that auto manufacturers would be forced to greatly increase their production of electric vehicles – a defacto electric vehicle (EV) mandate on the American people. In fact, under this proposed rule, the EPA projects that EVs could account for as much as 67% of new light-duty vehicle sales by 2032, as compared to just 6% last year.

Folks, this is nothing more than a reckless attempt by the Biden Administration to expand government control over our everyday lives in order to advance the Left’s garbage Green New Deal policies.

You and your family deserve the freedom to make your own decisions on what car you drive and purchase. It should always be your decision – not the federal government’s decree.

Last week, the House took action against the Biden Administration’s illegitimate power grab being forced on American consumers and auto manufacturers. We passed H.R. 4468, the Choice in Automobile Retail Sales (CARS) Act of 2023, to prohibit the EPA from finalizing, implementing, or enforcing its proposed EV mandate. I proudly co-led this legislation with Congressman Tim Walberg (R-MI), and I’m incredibly pleased that our CARS Act passed the House with bipartisan support.

You may be pleased to know that this marks my fourth bill to pass the House with bipartisan support this year, proving that we can advance conservative, commonsense legislation  – even with a slim Republican majority.

Now, while the passage of the CARS Act is a major win, I fully expect Senate Leader Chuck Schumer – a radical Democrat determined to force Green New Deal policies on our nation – will try to kill our bill in the Senate. So, I’ve already taken measures to ensure that we address President Biden’s EV mandate through a different avenue.

Last month, the House passed the Fiscal Year 2024 Interior and Environment Appropriations bill, which included my amendment to prohibit funds for the implementation of the EPA’s disastrous EV mandate. Rest assured, I will continue fighting the Biden Administration’s woke energy policies that impose burdensome costs on the American people, hinder domestic energy production, and limit consumer choice.

For months, the House Oversight & Accountability, Judiciary, and Ways & Means Committees have conducted rigorous oversight into the President’s involvement in his family’s shady foreign business dealings. Following mountains of concerning evidence, House Republicans launched an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden in September.

This week, House Republicans will bring H.Res. 918 to the floor to direct these Committees to continue their ongoing investigations as part of the existing inquiry into whether sufficient grounds exist for the House of Representatives to exercise its constitutional power to impeach President Joe Biden. The resolution sets forth specific procedures regarding the impeachment inquiry, formalizes the impeachment inquiry helping to remove legal ambiguity, and ensures the American people will receive the answers they deserve.

In the weeks following Hamas’ October 7th barbaric attack on Israel, the world has learned gruesome details about the atrocities Iran-backed terrorists perpetrated against Americans and Israelis. One of the most shocking discoveries that has come to light is the potential coordination between Hamas and numerous media organizations. Reports have identified that six freelance photojournalists associated with the New York Times, Reuters, Associated Press, and CNN were present during the attack — with photographs purportedly showing a photojournalist wielding weapons alongside Hamas terrorists.

In response to these appalling reports, I led more than a dozen of my House Republican colleagues in demanding that the media organizations associated with these photojournalists provide Congress with critical information related to the matter. Given that the American people routinely consume content from these organizations, it’s essential that they have transparency as to whether these media outlets are complicit in Hamas’ propaganda and acts of terror. Failure by these media organizations to provide Congress with the information we requested will not only raise additional ethical and national security concerns but also shamelessly signal the organizations’ acceptance of complicity in Hamas’ brutal war crimes.

Last week, the National Association for Gun Rights (NAGR) informed me that on November 30th, the organization attempted to deliver 40,000 petitions opposing the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives’ (ATF) proposed rule that redefines language related to Federal Firearms Licensees in order to expand universal background checks. Yet these NAGR members were turned away from the ATF’s building and denied the opportunity to submit their petitions.

In the days leading up to the December 7th comment period deadline, the ATF repeatedly ignored calls and emails from the NAGR about dropping off the petitions. The ATF’s flagrant disregard for 40,000 Americans' First Amendment freedoms is beyond the pale. Time and time again, unelected anti-gun bureaucrats within the ATF shamelessly undermine, disrespect, and violate law-abiding citizens' unalienable rights — representing a dangerous pattern of the agency’s contempt for the U.S. Constitution.

Due to the ATF’s blatant malfeasance, I led 25 of my House Republican colleagues in sending a letter to ATF Director Dettelbach urging that the agency abide by the Constitution and accept the NAGR’s petitions. Hours after publicly sharing my letter and shortly before the comment period deadline, the ATF caved and allowed the National Association for Gun Rights to deliver their members’ petitions. This marks a tremendous victory in our fight to hold the weaponized ATF accountable for assaulting Americans’ constitutional rights, especially the right to redress grievances!

Lawmakers are back in Washington this week, where we will consider the following legislation:

• H.R. 2670, the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2024: This annual bill authorizes funding and policies for the Department of Defense (DOD). Unfortunately, I have many concerns with this bill, as the conservative wins that House Republicans fought for were removed from this critical legislation. Additionally, a short-term extension of Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), which has been used to illegally spy on Americans, was dubiously attached to this year’s NDAA.
• H.Res. 918: This resolution formalizes House Republicans’ impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden. Passing this resolution will provide the three investigating committees with stronger subpoena enforcement power necessary to uncover all of the facts, as well as ensure the House has the best possible legal standing as we move forward in our mission to deliver answers to the American people.
• H.R. 1147, the Whole Milk for Health Kids Act: Despite the numerous health benefits of milk, the Biden Administration wants to continue to limit milk options to only fat-free and low-fat, as well as ban flavored milk until high school. The Whole Milk for Healthy Kids Act modifies requirements for milk provided by the National School Lunch Program of the Department of Agriculture (USDA) to permit schools to offer students whole, reduced-fat, low-fat, and fat-free flavored and unflavored milk.
• H.R. 357, the Ensuring Accountability in Agency Rulemaking Act: This legislation requires that rules from federal agencies be issued and signed by the head of the agency, who is appointed by the President and confirmed by the Senate, to keep federal rulemaking in check and constitutional.
