Friend,
For almost a year, Alabama Senator Tommy Tuberville held up hundreds of military promotions in protest of a Pentagon policy that expanded access to reproductive care.
After the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, more than 40% of active duty servicewomen were left stationed in states with little to no access to reproductive care. In response, the Department of Defense instituted a policy that allowed time off and travel reimbursement for service members who have to travel out of state for reproductive care, like abortions or IVF.
To “protest” this policy, Tuberville began a blockade of military promotions — at one point even blocking a seat on the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Over nine months, he prevented over 400 service members from receiving their hard-earned promotions.
No one fought harder against Tuberville’s ridiculous blockade than Michael. He was the first to call on Tuberville to end his charade, and has continued to do so.
Last week, Tuberville finally agreed to lift his blockade of promotions — except those at the highest level.
Michael won’t stop fighting until this stunt is over and service members have full access to reproductive care. Will you support him by chipping in now?
