Click here Message from the leadership Prof Anushka Patel, CEO, The George Institute for Global Health As I reflect on the last 12 months of what has been such a pivotal year for the Institute, and the privilege it has been to take on the CEO role during this time, I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved. Our research on kidney disease, sepsis and stroke in the last year alone has the potential to improve the lives of millions and reduce treatment costs worldwide. Our work in food policy, injury and mental health has produced clear evidence and recommendations towards healthier societies; while our research on transforming primary health care paves the way forward to providing better care to more people. And we have had a pivotal influence on how the entire ecosystem meaningfully considers sex and gender in all aspects of the research cycle. These are just a few of the many successes we’ve achieved this year. It's through collaboration, both within our walls and beyond, that we expand our impact. New partnerships with like-minded organisations, such as the South African Medical Research Council and Chinese University of Hong Kong have allowed us to explore new opportunities to improve people’s health. We have also continued to strengthen our engagement with governments and multilateral bodies such as the United Nations and World Health Organization to ensure our research findings are helping to influence global health policy. I hope you enjoy reading about some of our most recent highlights here. We look forward to sharing further updates on our work to address the challenges relating to health inequity faced by communities worldwide in the new year.
