As the GOP primary field in this race grows, it's clear that the list of cranks and extreme MAGA freaks lining up to oppose the leading Democratic candidate—Marine Corps veteran Ike McCorkle—are all grossly unfit to serve.
We’ve already seen how toxic extremists like Lauren Boebert and Marjorie Taylor Greene can provoke the absolute worst impulses of the MAGA base.
And now yet another hardline conservative candidate has entered the GOP clown car, along with other illustrious right-wingers such as conservative radio host Deborah Flora, Weld County Commissioner Trent Leisy (a man who worships Trump and says he is the “rightful president”), and Justin Schreiber, a pro-Trump troll who is facing criminal charges for stalking and harassment.
Democrats will have to work hard for a win in this district, but the Republicans are giving us every advantage by fielding completely out-of-touch and toxic candidates. We’re going to need a serious campaign war chest to hold back the flood of dark money attacks from the GOP.
