Southern flying squirrel at night perched on a tree
*New discoveries and support for at-risk species*
The Wildlife Conservation Fund is behind?some of Nebraska's biggest conservation success stories, from the now-thriving peregrine falcon and bald eagle to some recent new discoveries.?*If you're looking for a worthy cause to support this holiday season, consider the Wildlife Conservation Fund.*
The fund enabled the purchase of 12 ultrasonic acoustic monitors to help biologists 'hear' the calls of species that would otherwise be missed. Like the southern flying squirrel, recently recorded near Nebraska City ? in an area where they'd never been documented. Researchers also plan to use these monitors in Lincoln, where a population of flying squirrels was recently discovered, to identify the areas of the city that the squirrels inhabit.
Your donations help support projects like this, as well as habitat improvement for at-risk species, reintroduction projects and education efforts for all Nebraskans. Please consider making a donation to the Wildlife Conservation Fund today, or look for the logo on your Nebraska state tax form.
