Kara Eastman -- who came 1% away from flipping a red congressional district blue in 2018 -- is running in a big primary to do it again. Now, she just made this announcement because of the Coronavirus outbreak:
"Kara Eastman suspends all public events; reassures hourly workers they will get paid"
Meanwhile, two other progressive candidates -- their primaries are TUESDAY! -- are responding to crucial new Get Out The Vote challenges as the the Coronavirus shutters colleges and universities, impacting voters and volunteers.
Last cycle, the entire political establishment said Kara Eastman could never defeat a pro-life, pro-corporate "Democrat" in the primary. Kara won.
Then, the Democratic establishment left her to fend for herself. She got 49%, with over 10,000 grassroots donations from PCCC members.
She proved that you can run ANYWHERE on a bold progressive message of Medicare for All, a $15 minimum wage, and other bold ideas. In a traditionally Republican district, people were stunned to hear someone finally standing up for progressive values -- and they came out to vote! Now, Kara is running to finish the job.
National Republicans have listed Kara's opponent, Congressman Don Bacon, as one of the 10 most vulnerable Republicans in the country. They’ve asked their major donors to step in.
Trying to capture right-wing energy, Bacon endorsed Donald Trump for President. He said Trump had earned his support for "appointing two great Supreme Court justices" among other things.
Kara’s bold action to put the financial and health needs of her staff and community over other concerns is just one example of the kind of leader she’ll be in Congress -- and why we need her there.
Thanks for being a bold progressive.
