The last two months have been an unfathomably difficult and distressing period for the entire J Street community – including many staff who have friends, family and allies among the dead, injured and missing.
At the same time, we know that our values of compassion, empathy and humanity are more important now than ever. In an impossibly difficult moment, our advocacy has been guided by the goals of defeating terror, protecting civilian lives and pursuing a long-term peace.
As other groups retreat into partisanship – or shy away from the challenge of holding the humanity of both Israeli and Palestinian lives – our teams continue to tirelessly represent our shared values to the Biden administration, on Capitol Hill, and in communities and campuses across the country.
My hope is that we’ve not only given voice to your values in the corridors of power, but that we’ve also been able to provide a measure of support, stability and nuance at a time of overwhelming extremism and partisanship.
