Here’s the bottom line: There’s no reason to deal with Social Security and Medicare behind closed doors unless Congress wants to hide from voters. And voters are incredibly clear: They want to see Social Security EXPANDED, not cut!

The Republicans who are pushing this commission, like Mitt Romney and Speaker Mike Johnson, have voted over and over again to slash taxes for the wealthy. Instead of forcing the wealthy to pay their fair share, they want to take our earned benefits―forcing retirees to make do with less while their wealthy donors soak up the profits.
