In an interview last month, Wisconsin GOP chair Brian Schimming doubled down on his party’s plans to defeat Tammy Baldwin.

"When people tell me how Tammy Baldwin's gonna be tough to beat, I always say, 'Geez, has anyone seen Sen. Russ Feingold around lately?'" Schimming said.

As a reminder, Republican Ron Johnson defeated Democratic incumbent Russ Feingold in 2010 after jumping into the race late in the cycle and propelling his campaign with his own personal wealth.

And it’s the same exact playbook Wisconsin Republicans are trying to run this cycle with Eric Hovde — a megamillionaire banker who’s about to enter the race and is willing to spend up to $20 million of his own fortune to defeat Tammy.

We can’t afford to let history repeat itself — not with control of the Senate majority on the line.
