When I retired from the NFL, I could have lived anywhere.
But I decided to move back home to LA – Lower Alabama.
This is former NFL Defensive End Wallace Gilberry and I hope you’ll take just a few minutes to hear me out.
When I was a kid, my great-granddad duct taped mattresses around pecan trees for me to practice tackling. Playing in the backyard, I never imagined I’d one day play for Mike Shula and Nick Saban at the University of Alabama, then have a 9-year career in the NFL.

We didn’t have much growing up, but we were blessed.
That’s why I came back home to create more opportunities for little boys and girls just like me.
Now I’m running for Congress as a proud Republican who supports Donald J. Trump.
You could say I’m built different.
