Kristen’s religion taught her that “men are supposed to be men. Women are supposed to be women.” As she struggled with Kaiden’s transition, she asked her sister what to do. “And my sister looked directly in my eyes and said, ‘LOVE.’”
That affirmation can be life-saving. LGBTQ+ young people who have just one accepting adult in their life report significantly lower rates of attempting suicide.
